Student Research Opportunities

Opportunities abound in the Integrative Sciences Initiative for hands-on, interdisciplinary undergraduate student research.

Integrative Sciences and Woodson Hall: A Hub for Student Training

By leveraging synergies in training, interdisciplinary collaboration and industry partnerships, the Integrative Sciences Initiative (ISI) and Woodson Hall aim to drive innovation, enhance student success and amplify societal impact. Externally funded training programs in biotechnology, comparative medicine and the chemistry of life are complemented by cutting-edge initiatives at the postdoctoral, graduate and undergraduate levels.

Building on these strengths, ISI and Woodson Hall will develop additional training programs in molecular sciences, biomedical sciences and biotechnology, while strengthening connections with other prominent campus programs such as the Genetics and Genomics Academy, Science and Technologies for Phosphorus Sustainability Center, NC State’s bioinformatics program, the Center for Human Health and the Environment and others. Through these efforts, ISI will create a robust network that integrates research and education across disciplines, further positioning NC State as a leader in interdisciplinary STEM research training.

“NC State is poised to raise the bar for research, education and innovation, placing our students at the forefront of scientific discovery and societal advancement.”
